Welcome To Goldmine Design

Nestled for over 20 years in the heart of Seattle (just 1/2 a block south of Pike Place Market), Goldmine Design is a small workshop of fine artisan jewelers.

We are not a “normal” jewelry store. All of our pieces are made here at our shop, making the most of our 450 square feet with showcases sharing the space with lathes, benches, and tools used to make small metal pieces of art.

From doodles, dreams, and sketches, we help translate these inspirations into beautiful and unique designs. We encourage our customers to come up with symbols, ideas, and concepts, drawing inspiration from artwork, photos, stories, etc. We help translate all of that information into an evolution of wax models that bring their ideas to life where we are free to explore together until the design is perfect and unique! Our designs are as individual and varied as our customers, and we try to encourage their creativity rather than force our aesthetic or current trends on them. Our process has worked for over 16,000 pieces and counting without making the same ring twice!

The joyous thing about fine jewelry is that it often symbolizes new beginnings, important life events, and personal milestones. To help celebrate, we invite our customers to gather their friends and family to share in the experience of our unique casting parties. You wield the torch to cast the gold, transforming molten metal right before your own eyes!

We strongly believe that owning a beautiful piece of jewelry should be guilt free, which is why we use 100% recycled precious metals and ethically sourced gemstones and diamonds. And we believe in love and have always proudly supported the LGBTQ community.

Testimonials

  • Cindi has an uncanny ability to take my vague and slightly emotional idea of what I want and translate it into a piece of art I love to wear. She made a memorial ring for me when my Mom passed away. She even found me the perfect sapphire, my Mom’s birthstone.

  • I wanted a custom wedding ring that incorporated stones from my Mom and Grandmother. A friend of mine — who wears a beautiful custom wedding ring with inset stones that look like stars in the sky — told me about Goldmine and after my first meeting with Mary, I knew I had hit the jackpot. Cindi and Mary are lovely, one-of-a-kind, and fun — just like the jewelry they make. It was so special to be involved in the process with the ring casting. My fiance and I have enjoyed every visit to the shop, which is truly a hidden treasure amongst the tourist bustle of the Market. We recently picked up our wedding rings — a titanium band for him and an engraved white gold band with inset stones for me — and are so excited to wear them. Cindi and Mary blew me away from start to finish with their customer service, down-to-earth attitudes, and awesome craftsmanship.

  • Cindi was able to offer artistic direction when I asked for it, and she was also very receptive to my overall vision. She involved me at every step of the process–from an original sketch in a notebook, to a wax mold, to the ring casting, and final fitting. The craftsmanship is perfect, and I love having a true one of a kind piece of jewelry.

I especially liked that Cindi and Mary threw us a ring-casting party complete with snacks and bubbly. We got to fire up the kiln, melt our gold, and see how the ring would come together. This was by far the most fun wedding-related errand we had.

  • Mary worked with my now fiance and I for months on the perfect engagement ring. We knew that we wanted to use a sapphire but that was pretty much it. She walked us through the stone selection process and then let us start playing with the ring design. We had multiple completely different versions that we liked. Mary built them both in wax and let me try them on. We thought we had the ring that we wanted, but then we wanted to try one more completely different style. Mary made it happen and took the wax sculpture that we built and turned it into a ring that is beautiful and perfectly fits my style. I’m never buying off-the-rack jewelry again. I’ll be going back to Mary and Cindi!

  • Working with the staff at Goldmine is a pleasure from the moment you walk in the door. They are welcoming, offer to clean your jewels even if you aren’t buying anything and never push the merchandise.

I wanted to use the diamonds from an old ring into a pendant and wasn’t quite sure what I wanted. Mary Elizabeth created some drawings for several options based on our discussions and we e-mailed pictures back and forth until I found something I liked. Once picked she created a wax mold for final approval sending views from all sides so that I could get a picture of how it looked. The finished product was even more beautiful then I had anticipated; and now instead of an old ring in my drawer, I have a fabulous new pendant that I can wear all the time.

When my pendant arrived, it came with a new appraisal which included the value of the stone and the new work. It was a fun experience working with them and I would definitely return.

  • When I first walked through Cindi and Mary’s front door I knew that I wanted a completely custom engagement ring built around an uncut Arkansas diamond, and I also knew that there were very few jewelers in Seattle who were willing to take me on. Cindi didn’t bat an eye, though; we got straight to work, she took all of the feedback I gave her and used it to painstakingly create not only the most beautiful ring that I’ve ever seen, but also a wonderful experience in the process, from the first sketch right down to getting the finished ring re-sized with my fiancee this afternoon.

A ring is a big purchase, and I know how overwhelming it can be to shop for one. If you want something unique that you and your significant other will remember for the rest of your lives, and you want to enjoy every step of the process along the way, do yourself a favor and make Goldmine your first stop. You won’t regret it.
